Performance and Trauma Therapy
What is it?
Brainspotting is a therapeutic model for healing trauma & performance challenges. ”What’s in the body is in the brain”. It can assist in the healing of a variety of physical & emotional ailments naturally, as well as expand performance & creativity.
How does it work?
Based on “where you look affects how you feel” this revolutionary treatment uses relevant eye positions & bilateral sound to access the brain/body’s innate self scanning & self healing capacities.
Core neurobiological sources of emotional and/or body pain trauma, dissociation and a variety of challenging symptoms are released.
Brainspotting can access deep parts of the brain by using a fixed eye position to identify in the brain where the trapped trauma is held. It opens an inner door into the person’s innate capacity to heal. It does not depend on the person being able to tell you what happened which can be retraumatizing.
The attuned, mindful, compassionate, witnessing presence of the therapist is the foundation of BSP. The client is like the head of a comet & the attuned therapist is the tail that follows the head.
The concept of dual attention; when a person is attending to two different things at the same time, the brain is more open to change. This makes the brain travel down new neural pathways.
We are all connected. The courage it takes to face one’s pain and truth, can only be done with the mindful attunement of the heart.
